Il baccalà Nordico Icelandic “al punto di sale” si ottiene aggiungendo la quantità ottimale di sale, in modo da ottenere un prodotto leggermente salato e pronto da cucinare, senza la necessità di essere dissalato per poterlo consumare.

Dal punto di vista nutrizionale è ricco di proteine ad altro valore biologico. Ha pochissime calorie e il colesterolo è praticamente ininfluente. Ricco inoltre di potassio, fosforo, iodio e ferro. Per tutti questo motivo questo pesce è ideale per le diete dimagranti e per le terapie contro le malattie del metabolismo.
